All Anglers must pre-book a time slot on this Lake and stick to the times that they book !
Arriving much later than your time slot may result in a loss of fishing time if the Lake is busy

Our shop opens at 9 am. And carries a good range of Korda, Steve Renyard and Mainline products

A NEW P.B. FOR BRIAN GAY WITH A 26 LB 4 OZ MIRROR - OCTOBER 2012

Angler’s Mail correspondant Brian Gay was recently asked to do a feature
on our Specimen Carp Lake using only maggot as bait!
Brian clearly did something right as he landed himself a
new P.B. with a 26 lb - 4 oz’s Mirror together with 3 other Carp.

SPECIMEN CARP LAKE RULES

We are a family friendly Fishery, foul language or bad behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated.

The Fishery opens at 7.00 am and closes at dusk – unless night fishing is pre-booked.

Pre-booking is essential whether for a day or 24 hr session. All places must be paid for in full at the time of booking and are non-refundable! Unless the Carp are spawning or the Lake is frozen!

All Anglers are expected to visit our shop to purchase their permit. The shop opens at 9.00 am.

The Lake is rod and line only. A maximum of 2 Rods per Angler at all times.

NO BARBED OR MICRO BARBED HOOKS! We do check regularly! Maximum hook size 6.

Please don't be offended if we ask to check your tackle, it is for the welfare of our fish.

No braided mainline. No sacking of fish.

All nets must either be dry or be dipped in our disinfectant net dip before fishing.

Anglers must have and use a minimum 36” landing net and a large unhooking mat.

Anglers must only fish from the numbered pegs and must not distance cast into other Anglers swims.

All fish must be returned quickly and carefully. Photo's of fish must only be taken kneeling down.

No fixed leads or fixed feeders. A minimum hook length of 4 inches to be used.

Floating baits can only be used if freelined, ie no bubble floats or controllers of any kind.

No artificial/fake baits larger than a single grain of sweetcorn. All nuts must be suitably prepared.

Anglers are expected to have and use Klinik or similar.

Under no circumstances are Anglers permitted onto the far bank or past the fence at Peg 7 as these areas are Private.

No under 16's are allowed. Bait boats are allowed on this Lake only.

One non-fishing guest is welcome, if they wish to stay overnight a camping fee will be charged.

Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. Please clean up after them.

No litter. Please use a bin or take your rubbish home.

Barbeques and cooking stoves must only be used on the pegs stone chippings and not on the grass. Please don’t pour boiling water onto the grass as it kills it.

Any infringement of these Rules may result in you being asked to leave the Fishery.

Our exclusive 2 acre Specimen Carp Lake is our most challenging water. If you are a serious Carp angler or someone seeking their first “20” then this is the Lake for you.

The Lake is home to 150 home grown Commons, Mirrors and Ghost Carp that have been selected for their quality, fast growth rate and individual scale patterns. The Carp currently average around
18 lbs with at least 35 over 20 lbs of which 6 of these are over 25 lbs. The biggest of these is current “official” lake record “Machiavellian” who came out pre-spawning on 22/3/13 at 30 lb - 3 oz’s.

For an “official” Carp weight to be recorded they must be weighed on the Fisheries own scales, any Lake records will only be recognized in this way.

There are 7 very well spaced swims which are all on one bank and with strictly no access to the far bank the opposite margins are obvious hot spots. We are happy for you to use baits boats, these give a definite advantage by getting baits under the tree lines. Sorry no under 16’s are allowed on this Lake.

Favoured tactics include presenting high quality boilies, Mainline Cell long being the favourite over a bed of pellets or particles, although Steve Renyard’s new Pro boilie range is now also consistently pulling out twenties! Hi Viz pop-ups on a zig rig consistently catch as do bunches of maggots.

With only 7 Pegs pre-booking is essential on this Lake. Pegs are on a 1st come basis and individual pegs cannot be reserved. We always try to ensure that we leave one peg free to give a choice when you arrive, although this cannot be guaranteed.

If you and your friends would like to book the Lake exclusively
you can do this by paying for 6 pegs, you then get the 7 th free.

A 50% Non-refundable deposit is required for this at the time of booking
please and can be paid for over the phone with a credit/debit card.

If you catch a Carp weighing over 20 lbs during shop opening hours, it would be very much appreciated if you could please ask someone to come and get us so that we can weigh it on our scales and take photo’s for identification purposes and growth records.

This is due to more and more Anglers booking places and not turning up
thus meaning other dedicated Specimen Anglers have lost the opportunity to fish,
hopefully this will then sort the genuine Carpers from the timewasters.

If booking over the phone please have your chip and pin details ready and remember to come to the shop on the day you have booked to fish and pick up your receipt and fishing permit.
